This academic year, we will be supporting the following two charities: The Cleft Lip and Palate Association & Homeless Aid UK Liverpool.

What they do...

The Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) is a small charity working to improve the lives of families affected by a cleft lip and/or palate in the UK. 1 in 700 children in the UK are affected and there are 9 Cleft Teams in the UK, one of which is based in Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
  • Support is provided by means of family days out, which aim to connect children who were born with cleft, in addition to their parents, who may seek comfort in others who are experiencing similar challenges.
  • Further to this, CLAPA provides free welcome packs, which include a specialist feeding bottle, to parents of all newborns with a cleft in the UK.
  • Please see their website for further information: https://www.clapa.com/

Homeless Aid UK Liverpool aim to help those without shelter in the local community, which is only made possible via all donations received. Volunteers walk a planned route throughout the city every two weeks, handing out provisions such as thermals and sanitary items to those in need.

Please do watch out for communications via LUDSS on how you can get involved in volunteering for bucket collections, fundraising activities and provision distribution to the homeless throughout the year!
