A Summary of 2009/10
The BDSA Sports Day was held courtesy of UCLan in Preston, we arrived 3 hours late and dropped off nearly 10 minutes away from our hotel, in the rain. We found the hotel then hurriedly decked ourselves out in red Indian attire and set off into Preston to a bar and then the Guild of students. The day after involved watching and playing sports in the cold whilst severely “delicate”. Then we all rushed to get ready for the night out in Blackpool, where we jumped on a coach, saw some lights, headed to some club (whose name I forgot…) and slept on a coach back.
As October drew to a close, we threw a spook-tacular Halloween Party set in the creepy Circo, a perfect setting for our “Worst Nightmare” theme. The eager committee arrived nearly 2 hours before everyone else dressed as scary clowns after spending most of the afternoon throwing sweets and bits of “cobweb” everywhere. The turn out was amazing, and everyone was enthusiastic in their costumes where Marc Coombes and Elgan Rees won the costume competition for their Fly and Michael Jackson costumes.
November saw Liverpool hold the Northern Sports day and although the rain was determined, it didn’t dampen the spirits and fun of the day, where we provided hot popcorn, candy floss, hot tea and coffee, face painting and er hot dogs on a homemade bbq. We then fed the other dental schools and led them to our venues for the night – Revolution and Camel Club (where free champagne, shots and wonderful tunes were had) – and then Mood, when again more free champagne made the committee members then forget the rest of the evening…..
